OPERATION: B.R.I.D.G.E

The goal of Operation: B.R.I.D.G.E is to raise funds, collect book donations, and implement initiatives that significantly improve book accessibility and literacy rates among low-income individuals and families residing in wards 7 & 8 of Washington D.C. and Prince George’s County. Our primary objectives are to:

Provide book resources

Ensure that every individual, regardless of their financial circumstances or education level, has access to a diverse range of books by establishing community libraries, organizing book drives, and distributing books directly to homes, schools, and community centers in wards 7 & 8.

Promote literacy programs

Develop and implement comprehensive literacy programs that include reading workshops, writing competitions, and mentorship programs, inspiring a passion for reading and improving overall literacy levels in the targeted communities.

Enhance educational opportunities

Collaborate with schools, educational institutions, and community organizations to provide resources, support, and funding for educational programs that emphasize reading comprehension, critical thinking, and academic achievement, empowering individuals to pursue their dreams and aspirations.

Engage families and community

Organize family literacy events, interactive storytelling sessions, and community book clubs to encourage family involvement and foster a sense of community around reading, strengthening family bonds and creating a supportive network for literacy development.

Empower through outreach

Partner with local social service organizations, shelters, and community centers to reach individuals and families facing economic hardships, ensuring that the benefits of Operation: B.R.I.D.G.E extend to those who may face additional barriers to book accessibility and literacy improvement.
