I think a lot of the time people don’t feel supported in addressing their mental health because they feel like their experiences are too unique to anyone else’s, which leads to keeping it in ( forming nasty thoughts of shame and resentment) and ultimately avoiding mental health practices, especially queer/non-queer black millennial men. That’s why I believe blogs and challenges are good because they create community, which is what we all need. That’s why I aspire to create safe spaces where people can be courageously vulnerable and authentic about their own human experiences. Creating spaces where ALL people can share in our tragedies and triumphs to help us grow individually and collectively. I’m not trying to give out advice, but more or less allow people a space to feel seen and supported.
[My goal is to share my experiences to allow people a safe space to be seen and supported]
My aim is to help lead different mental health and self help exercises, discuss different experiences related to: happiness, vulnerability, addiction, habits , faith , and how we show up as our best selves dealing with the daily factors that affect us as POC/LGBT+ in a modern day society.
The goal is to create a community that share book recommendations based on themes, sends supportive quotes and statements of encouragement, ask courageous questions and provide authentic prospective to those questions , and hold each other accountable to be their best self through meaningful or wholehearted conversation.
In the words of my good sis Tisha Campbell, “Its the Journey”.
Good luck finding community.
